Tipton Man Injured In Local Shooting

On Sunday night at approximately 10:47 p.m. the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office, Osborne County Sheriff’s Office, Kansas Highway Patrol, Osborne Police Department, Mitchell County EMS and Osborne County EMS responded to the Knights of Columbus hall in Tipton, KS for a report of gun shots fired.

Upon further investigation, Randel Markgraf, was taken into custody at his residence near Tipton for aggravated battery and transported by EMS. The victim, Mike Corpstein of Tipton, was taken by private vehicle with an apparent non-life threatening gun shot wound.

Witnesses say that Markgraf had an argument with someone other than Corpstein who was at the hall earlier in the evening and he left. He then later returned to the premises and fired an unknown number of shots indiscriminately through the door of the hall and a bullet struck Mr. Corpstein.
